British racing legend Sir Stirling Moss has updated supporters concerned about his condition following an accident at the weekend by filming a 40-second video message from his hospital bed – and having it posted on YouTube.

The 80-year-old was injured after a malfunctioning lift at his Mayfair home failed to open at the correct floor, an accident which saw him step into the lift shaft and fall three floors, injuring principally his feet and ankles in the process.
He tells fans: “I must say that I would like to thank everybody out there who was kind enough to write to me, or email me, or whatever after the shunt I had at the weekend.
“I am glad to say I am feeling better. I am not feeling great, but I am feeling better, and hope to get out of here within a week or so.
“And then obviously I am going to take it a bit easy, which is a bit of a bore, but still. And I shall be bouncing back as soon as I possibly can.
“I hope that means that I will be meeting a lot of you within the next few months. Thanks for your well wishes.”
It’s wonderful to see Sir Stirling on the mend, as we know you will agree, and equally wonderful to be able to post you his YouTube appearance directly on the site.
Thanks to everyone at StirlingMoss.com for making this available and naturally we add our voices to all those wishing him a speedy and straightforward recovery.
