Long-time McLaren tester Gary Paffett is hoping to be confirmed in his role for 2010, as well as continuing his successful DTM career with Mercedes.
Bromley-born Paffett told his local paper Kent News that he is actively looking for a 2010 race drive, and that he is yet to be confirmed for next year with the team he has worked with since 2003.
But he added: “Working with both Jenson and Lewis in an entirely British team will be a great opportunity. The hype that will be around the British Grand Prix being a completely British team is something I want to experience.
“It’s difficult to say how the pair will work with each other. They are different types of drivers and they have both won the world championship, but I think they are professionals and will be fine.”
He said that DTM was his most realistic race option after he came a close second in last year’s championship to Audi’s Timo Scheider: “I am looking at my options, but to be honest another year in the DTM championship seems to be the most likely.
“There are more Formula One teams in the paddock, but it is just as difficult to get drives. With manufacturers leaving, there are still as many drivers looking to earn deals.”
