Triple World Touring Car champion Andy Priaulx is to demonstrate a BMW Sauber F1 car at Brands Hatch as part of the WTCC meet there on July 26-27.
Priaulx, who is hoping to win both his and BMW’s fourth consecutive touring car titles, will perform demonstration laps around the Grand Prix circuit on both the Saturday and Sunday, inbetween racing in his BMW 320si WTCC car.
A former tester for BMW Williams F1 team in 2005/6, the 33-year-old from Guernsey is looking forward to driving on British soil again after the WTCC visits Estoril in Portugal on July 12-13.
“The WTCC at Brands Hatch promises to be another great weekend,” he said.
“It’s always a highlight for me to race in front of my home crowd and I’m looking forward to giving the fans something to cheer about, both in the WTCC races and the F1 car.
“This is an amazing time for the BMW Sauber F1 Team and to have the chance to show the fans an F1 car at Brands is a real treat for me and them. The noise will be phenomenal and it promises to be a real spectacle.”
Priaulx is currently fourth in the championship with seven out of 12 events remaining.
Jonathan Palmer, ex-F1 racer and chief executive of Brands Hatch’s owners MotorSport Vision, said: “We’re thrilled that BMW has chosen Brands Hatch to showcase their Formula One car. The sheer speed, sight and particularly sound of a current top F1 car will be quite amazing and undoubtedly draw a huge crowd on this unique occasion.”
