Katherine Legge is due to drive for Audi in this year’s DTM championship having stepped up to a better car for her second season in the series.
The manufacturer is sticking with its existing factory squad for the 2009 season – with one important exception.
Legge contested 2008 in a two-year old A4 with customer team Futurecom TME alongside Christijan Albers – and was thus guaranteed a place at the back of the field.
But, despite some frustrations, she has clearly managed to impress, as this year she will drive for the factory team Audi Sport Team Abt Sportsline in a year-old car for the first time.
Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich, Head of Audi Motorsport, said: “2008 was the most successful year in the motorsport history of AUDI AG. The drivers were also a major factor in this, which is why we saw no reason to change anything on our proven driver squad.
“We decided to concentrate on our three factory teams Abt Sportsline, Phoenix and Rosberg. “It’s a great opportunity for Katherine to start for the defending DTM championship winning-team.”
Briton Oliver Jarvis, who also competes for Audi, will continue alongside Frenchman Alexandre Prémat in a year-old car for Audi Sport Team Phoenix. Albers will be racing with Audi Sport North America in the American Le Mans Series.
The season starts on May 17 at the Hockenheimring and includes a date at Brands Hatch in September.
