Time’s running out if you want to see Lewis Hamilton, David Coulthard, Jenson Button and Anthony Davidson race at their home circuit this year.
Tickets for the British Grand Prix, taking place on July 4-6, are selling so fast that the venue has announced that it is building an extra stand seating two and a half thousand spectators.
With most of the multi-day and race-day tickets gone, fans are reportedly switching to single-day and qualifying tickets to ensure they get a taste of the action.
The additional popularity of the sport in the UK brought about by Lewis Hamilton’s fantastic first season, Michael Schumacher’s retirement and the down-to-the-wire finish of the 2007 season are doubtless all responsible.
Richard Phillips, managing director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, said: “Interest in this year’s British Grand Prix has been overwhelming and we are having to build additional grandstand seating to accommodate the high levels of demand.
“Race day tickets are almost sold out, so fans are now switching to single-day tickets, in prime viewing locations, for Friday and Saturday.
“Last year’s qualifying was one of the highlights of the weekend and, available from £69, Saturday-only tickets provide an unforgettable taste of the drama and excitement that Formula One has to offer.”
