Interesting times at Super Aguri could be about to get a little less fraught. It appears that a new source of funding may be in the works for the beleaguered team.
For the last couple of days the F1 world has been alive with rumours that GP2 outfit Campos Grand Prix might possibly be willing to invest – and that it said as much to Aguri Suzuki at the Hungaroring.
This will be a familiar name to long-time fans of the sport – Adriàn Campos is a former manager of Marc Gené and Fernando Alonso – and, like his more successful protegé, once drove for Minardi himself.
He’s playing it cool at the moment but has apparently at least confirmed that stepping up to F1 would be a move that interests him.
If true this would be great news for our own Anthony Davidson – it would be highly regrettable if, having finally gained an F1 drive, his team went out of business.
