If you want to get an insight into exactly what it takes to keep an open-wheel racing car on track in a competitive situation, you might want to take a look at a public simulator event taking place this weekend.
Horley-based Puretech Racing is holding its 2011 Aviano Cup, which offers entrants the chance to compete wheel to wheel in its full-motion formula racing simulator, this Sunday (February 20).
The £40 entrance fee will get you half a day of racing action in the PTR1 car, the chance to meet fellow enthusiasts and an opportunity to learn racing skills.
Entrants start with plenty of track time driving in a number of heats, followed by a ranked final, in which the grid order will be decided by performance in the heats.
If you fancy having a go, drop centre manager Nick Dunn a line or call Puretech on 01293 826800. If you’ve ever fancied racing, but struggled to find an opportunity, now’s your chance.
If you want to find out more about Puretech, including where to find them, and whether simulator racing is suitable for you, visit their website here.
Or you can see what happened when Brits on Pole visited their launch last year to talk to Nick and try out their simulators.
