Great Britain’s A1GP team will enter its third season without its most famous face as racing legend John Surtees has announced he is standing down as team principal.
Former Formula 1 champion Surtees is leaving the team to concentrate on his other business interests, including the racing career of his son, Henry, who is currently fourth in the Formula BMW UK Championship.
Tony Clements, joint British franchise-holder, said: “We are extremely thankful to John for providing not only his expertise in the early years of A1GP, but also for his passion for the series and recognising the opportunities available for British racing talents.
“We wish him well with his future ventures and look forward to welcoming John and his family to an A1GP event in the near future.”
Although the team has made a number of changes to its operational and commercial management ahead of the new season, Paul Bellringer will continue as team manager and Robbie Kerr and Oliver Jarvis remain lined up for race drives.
