Anthony Davidson had a taste of what is in store for him during the 2008 season when he kicked off winter testing for Super Aguri yesterday.
The Japanese minnows were one of two teams to field just one car – the other being Renault, which saw race driver Heikki Kovalainen put in an impressive performance and secure the fourth-fastest lap.
According to the team bulletin, Davidson was at the wheel of the SA07-05B for the first day of the test.
He spent the morning evaluating the new electronic system that will become mandatory for the coming season and completed a programme of electronic system check analysis, continuing the development work in the afternoon.
Putting in 69 laps, he pulled a best time of 1:24.245 out of the hat, putting him 16th in the rankings and 2.562 seconds behind leader Michael Schumacher, testing for Ferrari.
He did, however, having the satisfaction of splitting the Hondas, with a fastest lap that was more than two-tenths of a second quicker than James Rossiter’s for the A-team.
