F1: Davidson’s team posts £4.5m loss

,

Super Aguri, home of the British driver Anthony Davidson, has just revealed its financial figures for its first year in business – and they amount to a £4.5 million loss.

The team, which runs on a fraction of the budget and resources employed by its biggest rivals, has been in the spotlight already this year for financial troubles after a major sponsor defaulted on payments.

In the plus column, the team has reportedly been talking to new sponsors and enjoys the financial support of engine supplier Honda.

In the minus column, F1 can a notoriously money-hungry and financially unrewarding business. And some of the new interest may have revolved around one-off deals for the Japanese Grand Prix.

Certainly the way the team and its drivers have managed to punch above their weight this season means they’ll have plenty of fans hoping they can stay in business.
