Racing driver David Brabham is offering sportscar fans the chance for an exclusive behind-the-scenes day out at Silverstone while also raising money for a good cause.
Brabham, one of the three-man team driving this year’s winning Peugeot Sport Total entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, is hosting a VIP guest day at the 1000km of Silverstone Le Mans Series event this Saturday.
Organised on behalf of Racing4Charity it offers the chance for a maximum of 30 guests to meet and spend the day with Brabham.
Racing4Charity is an organisation of volunteers which runs motorsport events to raise money for a variety of UK charities. Founded by Brabham and police officer Bill Williams, the partnership has raised more than £300,000 for worthy causes over the past 15 years.
Its flagship Celebrity Karting Challenge event is hosted at the Autosport International show each year and attracts stars from across the sport.
On Saturday sports car veteran Brabham will talk about winning Le Mans at his 16th attempt and his American Le Mans Series title hopes before he heads back to the States and Petit Le Mans later this month in a bid to extend his championship lead.
He will also give specially-organised guided tours of the Aston Martin and Team Modena pit garages, giving guests a unique insight into race preparation and the challenges facing both team and driver over a race weekend.
Guests will also have the chance to meet fellow ALMS star Marino Franchitti who will host a question and answer session with Brabham while Team Modena drivers Antonio Garcia and Leo Mansell will be among the guests expected to drop by throughout the day.
A series of bespoke auctions will offer a selection of signed racing memorabilia to raise funds for NARA (The Breathing Charity) and Malaria No More.
Brabham said: “This is the first time we have hosted such an event, so I hope Racing4Charity’s efforts will be well supported at Silverstone.
“We’ve certainly got a fantastic day in store for our guests, providing a unique insight into the world of sports car racing.
“It promises to be a great day but none of this would be possible without invaluable support from Aston Martin and Team Modena, not to mention Marino Franchitti, so my heartfelt thanks go to everyone involved.â€
Tickets cost £185 including circuit admission, free parking and all-day viewing from the hospitality suite situated on the Upper Level. Breakfast on arrival, a buffet luncheon with wine, plus afternoon tea and light refreshments throughout the day is also included.
